Running For Tumuaki Takirua

I am thrilled to apply for Tumaki Takirua for 2023, in conjunction with Travis as co-presidents.

In 2022 I have been the Tumuaki Taurua for Te Awhioraki. Working with the executive, we have achieved some great successes; through events both on and off campus, new initiatives to support tauira and champion cultural diversity on campus.

In 2023, Travis and I are nominating ourselves to be co-presidents. We want to build on our hard work and continue to provide a year full of fun activities and bring all Māori tauira together. Not only are we going to provide fun activities throughout the year, but we aim to be a voice for all Māori Students.

This year we have learnt how to run an executive team and work in a professional environment. With what we have learnt this year and an awesome group of people nominated for the Te Awhioraki executive roles, I believe we can run a team that has your best intentions in mind. Travis and I have built a strong working relationship this year, and looking to the future, we hope to grow as leaders and cater to all of your needs.

We look forward to the year ahead.

Kia ora whānau.

Brooklyn and I are excited to apply to be Tumaki Takirua (Co-President) for 2023.

I have been the Kaituhituhi in 2022. We have enjoyed the challenge of planning events on and off campus, working with our executive team and supporting Māori students over 2022.

For 2023, we want to be co-president together to continue the positive momentum we have been making this year. We believe that the shared leadership of the executive provides a broader experience and outlook on the problems and solutions we will face as a team. As Tumaki Takirua, we will be transparent, dedicated and committed to supporting and providing the best experience for tauira.

We want to continue to enhance Te Awhioraki’s ability to support tauira, run events that bring tauira together to celebrate and enjoy being at Lincoln University and champion cultural diversity on campus. We have learnt some great lessons this year through seeing what students want in events and support that best works for all of us. We want to apply the lessons we have learnt this year and guide them into action for 2023.

We look forward to an exciting and fun year in 2023.
